Eugenie Pappenheim

Description:

Eugenie Pappenheim was an opera singer from Vienna who also performed in Hamburg and the USA in the 19th century. She met the Hamburg merchant Rudolf Ballin, whom she later married. Eugenie died in 1924, bequeathing money to the city of Hamburg,  which it used to establish the Ballin Foundation in 1925 on Eugenie's behalf. Today, the Ballin Foundation supports children and families in need.
